Who we are
GBC Tickets (tickets.gracebiblechurch.org.za) is the event registration and ticketing service of Grace Bible Church, Johannesburg, South Africa. This policy covers the GBC Tickets website and the GBC Scan mobile app our ushers use to check tickets in at events. We process personal information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What we collect on GBC Tickets
When you buy or reserve tickets we collect:
- Your name, email address and phone number, used to deliver your tickets and contact you about your order.
- Attendee names for the tickets in your order.
- Your order and ticket details (events, ticket types, QR codes, reference numbers).
- Messages you send to support, so we can help with your order.
We don't require you to create an account to buy tickets, and we don't sell your information to anyone.
Payments
Card payments are processed by Paystack, our payment provider. Your card details go directly to Paystack over an encrypted connection — we never see or store your card number. We keep only the payment reference and status needed to match your payment to your order.
The GBC Scan app
GBC Scan is our check-in app for authorised volunteer ushers. It cannot be used without a pairing code issued by an event administrator. If you install it without one, it collects nothing.
- Camera: used only to scan ticket and pairing QR codes. No photos or video are captured, stored or uploaded.
- Attendee information: when a ticket is scanned, the app briefly displays the attendee's name, email and ticket number from our ticketing server so the usher can confirm the check-in.
- Check-in records: the ticket number, station and time of each check-in are sent to our server. If the device is offline, check-ins are stored on the device and synced automatically when connectivity returns.
- Device pairing: a device name chosen at setup and a secure access token are stored on the device. Administrators can revoke a device's access at any time from the admin dashboard.
- No tracking: the app contains no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking of any kind.
Sharing
We never sell personal information. We share it only with the service providers needed to run the service — our payment provider (Paystack), our email delivery provider (to send your tickets) and our hosting providers — and only to the extent needed to provide the service, or where the law requires it.
Retention, access and deletion
We keep order and check-in records for as long as needed to run our events, handle support queries and meet our legal and financial record-keeping obligations. You can ask us at any time to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it — email tickets-support@gracebiblechurch.org.za from the address you used to purchase. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
Security
All traffic between your browser, the GBC Scan app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Access to attendee data is limited to authorised administrators and paired usher devices, and that access can be revoked centrally.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we'll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
